COMIC VIEW

IN MY COMIC STRIP I ORIGINALLY SET OUT TO HAVE A CHARACTER IN IT TO PLAY IN THE DIFFERENT SEASONS HOWEVER, I HAD COMPLICATIONS WITH CODING. I AM LEARNING MORE ABOUT THE CODING AND STARTING TO UNDERSTAND IT MORE AND MAKE THEM WORK. AFTER SEEING THE SEASONS CHANGE BACK IN FORTH I THOUGHT IT WAS NICE BUT AFTER READING THE CRITIQUES I REALIZE THAT I DO NEED TO INCLUDE MY CHARACTER TO INTERACT WITH THE SEASONS. I GOT THIS IDEA BY WATCHING MY DOG. SHE IS SO FUNNY WHEN THE SEASONS CHANGE. SHE LOVES TO PLAY IN THE SNOW AND HATES THE RAIN, SHE ACTS LIKE SHE'S DIEING, HER HAIR FALLS OUT IN THE SPRING, ALLERGIES, AND SHES IN LOVE WITH THE SUMMER SEASON AND SWIMMING IN THE LAKE, SO I WILL INCLUDE MY CHARACTER AND MAKE INTERACTION BETTER.

critique for midterm

in breedlove's animation i really dig the concept of racism however, it might not be executed as well. if you are talking about black and white issues then maybe you should be more literal.
you already have mostly black and white images. i think that the red, blue and green illustrate acceptance of all colors. maybe the people should have stripes on them like the rest of your images. i do enjoy all of the animations. seems to me that this is more related to working your life away in a factory, it is very mechanical.

hodges animation is nicely executed. kicking a ball through different scenes is nice. you are traveling with the ball. the images are nice as well. the only thing i can say to improve on is maybe have individual animations going on in the different scenes.

cierra's animation is fun and entertaining. i like the idea of the hungry cat. i would also like to see the cat interacting with the refrigerator. maybe tipping it over and making a mess. the animations need to be a little bit slower so you can read it and see what is actually going on, but over all, a neat idea.

“Testimony: A Story Machine.”

I'M NOT REALLY SURE WHAT THIS PIECE IS ABOUT BUT I LIKE IT! I THINK THE WALKING ANIMATION IN THE BEGINNING IS NICE. THE INTERACTION IS COMMON SINCE BUT ENGAGES THE VIEWER TO CLICK MORE IN ORDER TO SEE MORE IMAGES. IT SORT OF REMINDS ME OF SLOTS. YOU CAN MAKE ALL THE IMAGES MATCH UP IF YOU LIKE. IT WOULD BE COOL IF WHEN YOU MATCHED UP THE RIGHT IMAGES YOU COULD WIN A PRIZE OR SOMETHING, OR EVEN SEE ANOTHER ANIMATION. YOU COULD ALMOST CREATE A DIFFERENT OUT COME FOR THE SAME STORY. THAT WOULD BE INTERESTING.
JUDGE FOR YOURSELF

i'm pulling my HAIR OUT!

the past assignment has been very difficult. i've yet to master the skill of buttons, where to put code and why. i feel that the class is moving too fast with the code. i need step by step instructions to learn how to do things in flash. if i could master buttons i feel that i would be comfortable with mouse events. when i'm not working my job or taking care of my 8 year old, i'm spending every waking hour trying to complete these assignments and still i come up short. it takes me 45 mins alone just to complete one flash drawing, then i have to animate that. which this wouldn't be so bad if there weren't so many drawings and movie clips required, then perhaps i could concentrate more on how to place code and understand it. i also think that it would be nice to have a homework assignment that we could work on in class where we could get hands on help. One hour of office time isn't enough. besides the technical difficulties the assignment about candy and gears is an ok idea i guess. this work doesn't really mean anything yet. i'm really frustrated with the whole thing. i spend hours just trying to figure out where code goes. however, i have learned to draw in flash and create movie clips, which is fun.......and that's all i have to say about that.
